by Ned Dagostino

Here’s a thought for you – is the light in the cooking area sufficient for the purpose? Most of us do think about the lighting in the kitchen. But what about the cooking area specifically? The actual area where the cooking is done – the range, the oven, the cutting board – usually suffers from less than adequate lighting.

It’s not that the kitchen is dark, per se. It’s just that the lighting is not properly designed. We just make sure that we get ‘bright’ lights and that’s it. Because of the drawbacks of artificial plants, why not try your hand at growing the real thing? Indoor gardening can be quite easy. Aside from the beauty of indoor plants, they also provide health benefits. After all, as we learned in grade school, plants clean the air by using the carbon dioxide we breath and producing more oxygen.

Using Vines In Your Garden Effectively

by Thomas Fryd

Vines are an excellent choice for a new garden. They are fast growers, and can grow to cover an arch or pergola almost before the start of summer. They are an easy way to soften the harsh lines of new buildings, and can provide shade when grown on an arch or other decorative element.

Vines can also be a great choice for older homes. Many vines make excellent groundcover, and can also camouflage building foundations, walls, or fences.
