« A Startling Fact About Workout For Flat Stomach How to Propagate Plants From Seeds and Cuttings »
Most offices use natural spectrum incandescent light bulbs, ranging from 60 watts to 150 watts. Some offices have 3-way lighting, allowing three choices of wattage from soft to bright light, with bulbs identical to standard household light bulbs. Many offices use fluorescent tubes for their lighting, since these also offer full spectrum light that is pleasing to the eye.
Other types of office lighting are the energy efficient fluorescent bulbs. These bulbs are shaped into coiled tubes and screw in at the base much like the standard light bulb. This type of fluorescent light bulb comes in 15 watts or more, making it an energy saver.
There are some workplaces who think that fluorescent lights are unhealthy for the staff and have changed over. In fact the UV exposure from fluorescent lighting is much less than from the natural light according to some studies. You can use low-UV light bulbs in the office in case you are more sensitive to light. These lights do not break easily and they also obstruct ultraviolet emission.
If your office is still using the same old fluorescent tube lighting, take a look at more energy efficient lighting. These older light bulbs use magnetic ballasts causing energy waste. A new law requires offices that are in need of new lighting to switch to more energy efficient light bulbs.
By the year 2010 fluorescent tube lighting with magnetic ballasts will be banned, and all businesses will need to consider more efficient ways of lighting their offices.
