Colors & Feng Shui Combine

by Tanya Hurley

If you want to decorate in feng shui read this article. It will help you to understand how the Chinese believe this system and chi work to create a nice living space. Chi will send out the energy through the room and out of all objects that are in it. With this chi flowing in the right way you will find that it can invigorate a person, or if it is done incorrectly is will hinder their days. Feng shui is the way that you set up the dcor and color of the rooms to create the proper flow of chi throughout it.

One of the most important things that you should take into consideration when working with feng shui is what colors you have in what rooms. If you have the wrong color the chi will not flow properly. Colors that are used in a room will make a person happy or sad, want to work or relax. So in order to get the right colors and the right chi flow you need to figure out what the room is going to be used for.

You need to learn to use the colors that are placed in the room in the right way with feng shui. If you are trying to create the right atmosphere for a bedroom you need to put in a few darker colors and not many light or bright ones, this will not have a person relaxing if there is too much brightness. The same is said for a work area, don’t place dark colors unless you don’t want work to get done.

Specific objects that are in a room will also determine whether chi will work in the room. Don’t have too many different colors in a room this will only play havoc on the chi and not have your room balanced at all. So if a room has light walls adding in some darker furnishings is a great idea. If you have too much of one color it will become overwhelming and not help you out at all.

Using an area rug in the room may help to influence the mood of a room in a certain way. The color from the rug can help to set the tone of the room since nearly everything in the room will be playing off of it. The furniture can blend or contrast with the rug, just as the walls will have an influence on how the area rug looks on the floor. Helping the chi to flow through the room should be an area rug’s primary purpose. Causing too much obstruction will only work to block the flow of the chi.

A great way that you can tell if you have the feng shui of a room done correctly is to watch how people who visit act to the room. If they seem happy and have a bunch of energy you have the colors and set up just right. But if they are uptight, you may have too may bold colors in the room. If you can read how people react in your rooms you will have a great way of figuring out how to have the chi flowing the correct way.
