I’ve been told once or twice that floors with carpet are a sure way to show that your home is stylish. Huh. Did I really fall for that? Don’t get me wrong, though. I’m not denying the fact that having carpeted floor will indeed make your home stylish. I am just annoyed at the amount of attention one needs to put into carpets when they’re installed.

You have to make sure to choose the right carpet for your home, first and foremost. The carpet should match the rest of the house, or the design will otherwise look forced. Plus, there’s the task of cleaning and vacuuming the carpet every day. Carpets are dust gatherers, after all. And of course, there’s always the occasional spill. After getting liquid on carpet, it has to be taken up immediately or risk staining.

I learned too late that carpets are just not worth the time and money. After about a year of frustrations, I remembered thinking that something that has cost me this much should at least be something that I did not have to mind as much. And luckily, I eventually found the perfect reason to completely discard my carpets.

I decided, then, that to have my floor indoors tiled. And my life has been made a lot better by that decision. I no longer have to worry about my tiles and grout everyday; I just make sure I do some sweeping (which takes around two minutes) and then you’re done for the day. Sure, I still have to watch out for spills, but it’s never with the same urgency that was required of me when cleaning carpets.

Other than that, the only real consideration that I need to maintain my tiles occurs whenever I begin to see the grout getting darker. When this happens, I simply take it as a sign that says I need to call on professional tile and grout cleaners again. And as I do sweep rather consistently, I only need to call upon their services occasionally.

Don’t waste your time on carpeted floors if you wish to have elegant looking floors! Get rid of those carpets and switch to tiles, and I can assure you that this is one good decision. You can have beautiful floors without succumbing to too much upkeep.
