Fiestaware is a striking and collectible way to add a little spice to your table. However, if you’re going to use these dishes properly, they’ll have to have the right kind of care. If you don’t protect the appearance and integrity of your tableware, it won’t last. The good news is that caring for Fiestaware doesn’t have to be hard. Here are a few tips.

Just like any other kind of ceramic dinnerware, Fiesta dishes are best hand washed. Use a mild soap, but don’t buy lemon oil or lemon scented detergents, since they can cause damage. All Fiesta ware should be kept clean, even those that spend all their time in display cases.

One common issue that collectors and users of Fiestaware may experience is unsightly marks caused by utensils, especially on light green, yellow, or ivory plates. Fortunately, Fiesta tableware was made for everyday use. That means it’s durable and well made, and utensil marks are removable.

Consider using a soft metal polish or other very light abrasive to remove marks from the surface. Just be sure to clean your dinnerware well afterwards to remove all traces of the cleaner, and never use harsh cleansers on this kind of surface. Never use harsh chemicals or scrubbers on these pieces, as they can cause damage.

It’s hard to replace Fiesta ware, so take care not to break or scratch it. Fiestaware should be gently placed on hard surfaces without being allowed to bump into other pieces. Never place your Fiestaware in the oven or on the stove top, and place a paper towel or other protector between plates to make sure they won’t damage one another in the cabinet.

Store vintage Fiestaware In a display cabinet or using a china storage set. Use holders made for bowls and plates to keep tableware in good shape if you’re displaying it, and make sure that all holders have smooth surfaces.

When selecting holders, make sure you check the size and weight recommendations. That’ll allow you to be sure they’ll keep your plates and other ceramic ware just where you put them. If you store your plates and other Fiesta pieces flat, dust them periodically.

The correct care for your Fiesta tableware set will allow it to stay attractive and useful for many years. You’ll get the most out of your Fiesta ware if you treat it well. In the long run, you’ll be happy you took the time to care for your tableware properly.
