Can Anyone Experience Contemporary Art?

by Anna Meenaghan

Art presents itself in many shapes and forms today. To me it is always interesting and gratifying to appreciate other peoples art. You dont necessarily have to like it personally to accept the hard work that has gone into it and the thought behind it.

As a contemporary artist myself I find it gives you freedom to express your inner emotions. If I had a bad day it probably reflects in my paintings appearing more dramatic. On the other hand I also find it calming to paint seasoned skies.

All About Masking Paintings Properly!…

by Anna Meenaghan

Masking, eh! How do I implement that with my painting? Well, here we go with the guide. This is a clever method of making good effects on your work which is easily achieved. With this you can cover and protect various segments of your painting while you paint other areas.

You can be faced with quite complicated, intricate, detailed work, with a background that needs filling in. This often seems an impossible task. To paint round every little bit of your subject would take up much time and it could be hard to get the paint even and not patchy, and you would need to be using a very fine brush.

Sanguine can be a drawing, crayon or chalk. There are various different shades it can actually be. Flesh, or an absolute blood red, or a reddish colour. This medium can be used for drawing. It has oxide in the pigment and the content of it is generally chalk or clay. This is also the main colour in Conte crayons. Red chalk, as a term, is the name of the shade.

Sandy Paste is a very interesting texture which also spreads very well. It is often used with pastels and is a gritty acrylic type of paste that is the colour of sand.

Which Colours Can Make Or Break Your Painting?…

by Anna Meenaghan

Colours and music, in fact, seem to rule my life, making me also a bit of a colourful character. However, colour features strongly in painting to reflect the mood you are trying to create. The heat within, or even the cold. It certainly makes a difference to your interpretation.

We all have our favourite colours. Mine just happens to be emerald green. This is what appeals to me, but whatever your choice, it is what may be central to you. This in turn may have effects on many things in your life and can even give you a feeling of space.

Popular Pebble Mosaics & How To Make Them!…

by Anna Meenaghan

Living so close to my local beach I was inspired by the shoreline and found that this was something I needed to try. On a daily basis I see people picking up and feeling pebbles, fiddling with them and often putting them in their pockets to take home. To be able to create a picture from them too, can only be a progression.

Even if we were unlucky enough to have had bad weather, we still take shells etc. as keepsakes when we return home.

Why Art Is Very Special!…

by Anna Meenaghan

Art today covers so many things. The choices that you have are endless, so there is something to suit everybody’s taste. So much we can learn about it from looking at the Masters. However, you can appreciate art even if you are a beginner to it all.

As a race the Chinese and Japanese generally use black and white to express themselves. Very cleverly they use brushes for both their writings and their drawings. Brushes, in fact, made of hair with a very fine point, ideal for their delicate work, with a bamboo handle.

Candlemaking In A Few Easy Steps!…

by Anna Meenaghan

Candle making is pretty easy to do on the whole. I am only surprised that more folks don’t experiment with this bearing in mind that candles are such a accepted item. Not simply do they generate a feeling of warmth and release perhaps healing powers as we find them restful, but they also give us soft and informal atmospheres to slow down by.
