The Grout in the Bachelor’s Pad

by Rick Amorey

If you watch some of the movies available these days, a common clich? when it comes to bachelor pads is that the bathrooms are simply disgusting. Now this is true, to an extent; men such as us feel like we are above cleaning. And yet, every bachelor eventually realizes that keeping oneself healthy enough for all our physical activities.

Turning your place into a tidy bachelor’s pad is usually not too hard; you just have to wash the dishes that have piled up, vacuum some dust off the place, and possibly wipe off the pizza stain whose flavor you’ve forgotten. All that’s there to it is some trivial cleaning, right? But of all these, one area will haunt you. It is the same area that pop culture has decided to deride, and that place is your bathroom.

One of the reasons as to why this particular area receives attention is the fact that it’s just really smelly. When something is so revolting as to make you want to stay away from it unless necessary, how will you convince yourself to lounge there for more than two hours scrubbing? Even with the consolation of getting to take a bath after the disgusting deed, it just isn’t easy to go and do.

All that, and we haven’t even gone through the actual cleaning yet! The bathroom is notoriously difficult to rid of that slime that grows on your tiles, but even more disconcerting is the tenacity of the grout. These spaces in between the tiles are porous, and as such the bulk of the dirt manages to settle beneath. Not even the most vigorous scrubbing will reach that.

So the best thing to do when faced with such a situation is to just admit that you can’t clean it. Don’t get me wrong, though; I’m not saying you should give up cleaning. Instead, hire a professional grout cleaner to tend to your bathroom woes. Why would you try something that you are averse to doing anyway?
