Using Plants In Beautifying Your Home

by Liz Summers

Home decorating ways can be as diverse as the decorating products found in the market today. It does not only include accessories and other typical decors we see such as knick-knacks, rugs, curtains and carpeting. Changing your abode to look better can also be done by going natural – utilize plants as home decors. You don’t necessarily have to transform your house into a jungle in urban living. A few or even one but placed strategically can already add a good feel to your place.

In the initial planning stage, think about how many plants you want to put at home. Next, decide if you want real plants or artificial ones. Then survey your house and check out areas where you intend to position the plants. Owning such decors comes with responsibility as you have in managing all your other possessions. Choose if you would rather clean fake plants or exert more effort in caring for real plants.

Let me help you out so you can edge forward in your decision-making. Real plants have an edge when it comes to texture and smell. There’s this certain scent that plants and flowers emit that is just so refreshing to the senses. Having genuine plants in the house gives that kind of revitalized feeling and adds well too in giving off oxygen, so the home has fresh and clean air. On the other hand, artificial plants have an edge with aesthetics. Because they don’t die and the colors are amplified, they have more vivid hues and well, last for as long as you want them to. Further comparing the two, artificial plants are more manageable in that you don’t have to meticulously water them and get them some sunlight. But, if you are a big fan of gardening, taking care of plants is actually an enjoyable task.

After you have decided on real or fake, you will want to decide on what type of plant you want. Because the earth is carpeted in such diverse plant life, your choice of plant can range from potted trees to exotic hot house flowers to creeping ivy. Ivy looks amazing when twined around curtain rods and slinking along door frames. Also, ivy makes a room look rustic when paired with earthen pots and earth toned area rugs. Don’t be fooled. Area rugs are more than just pretty mats for your pots to rest upon. Area rugs, when combined with any number of house hold plants, add a vivid glow to any room that can’t be duplicated with carpet. Flowers enhance any living space with their color and scents. Potted trees can fill those odd corners where furniture has a hard time fitting. Potted topiaries are perfect for adding intricate or bold splashes of life to your warm and inviting home.

Examples of plant containers are pots, baskets, vases and planters. All these come in assorted designs, materials, colors and shapes. Baskets for instance, are made from bamboo and wicker. They are long lasting and mostly waterproof therefore, spilled water is never going to be a hassle. In addition, pots are more intricate in design. If you like details, you will enjoy shopping for one.

Decorating your home with plants can be an adventure. Your home will be an exotic oasis- a place to just get away from it all.
